Auto-tune has come under some harsh criticism in hip-hop. T-Pain is a big fan of auto-tune but in Jay-Z's song titled D.O.A. (Death of Autotune), Jigga wrote that he will never join the bandwagon of this new trend. Redman has jumped on the bandwagon of auto-tune or is it his alter-ego Reggie Noble?
The Brick City rapper is preparing his new album Reggie Noble 9 1/2 that is set for release in December. He told Rap-Up.com that Reggie will use auto-tune and that he "don't give a f*ck."
"Reggie Noble don't give a f*ck! He wanna do auto-tune," Redman said. "He wants to do a pop record. He just wants to do music because he loves music."
"Reggie Noble is doing the album, not Redman. Let's get that clear," the rapper added.
During the interview Redman had explained that he and Reggie are totally different. Redman continues that Reggie Noble wants to do auto-tune just for fun.
"What's the difference between Reggie Noble and Redman is that this Reggie Noble album is more conceptual," the rapper explained. "It got concepts on it, it got auto-tune on it, it got a pop record on it. I had fun on it. I'm just throwing it out, giving it to Def Jam."
Redman will release another album not Reggie Noble called Muddy Waters which will be released sometime next year on Def Jam. This is his sequel to his Muddy Water LP that premiered in 1996.
