Timbaland Announces "Textbook Timbo" Album, Which Features Jay Z

by Danielle Harling

Timbaland Announces "Textbook Timbo" Album, Which Features Jay Z
Timbaland changes his album title to "Textbook Timbo," previews new Jay Z collab titled "Bounce."
Virginia beatsmith Timbaland is continuing to treat fans to the occasional glimpse into his next studio album. The album, which was originally titled Shock Value 3 and later Rebirth, will now be titled Textbook Timbo. The producer made that particular announcement during Jay Z’s Magna Carta tour stop in Belgium.

In addition to revealing his LP’s newest name, Timbo again previewed “4 Horsemen,” a track that features both Jay Z and Drake, an artist he previously said he “adopted.”
“Before I bring my man Hov out, can I do something new for y’all? I said, before I bring my man Hov out, can I do something new for y’all? This off my new album Textbook Timbo and we gon’ do something like this,” said Timbaland, before previewing “4 Horsemen.”

Later that night, both Timbaland and Jay Z attended a birthday party held for professional baseball player Robinson Cano and again previewed another track from Tim’s upcoming album. The record is reportedly titled “Bounce” and again features Jay Z.

Although Timbaland and Jay Z have collaborated extensively over the past year, most recently on Hov’s Magna Carta Holy Grail album, the two musicians haven’t always boasted a cordial relationship.
Following the release of The Blueprint 3, both Jay Z and Timbaland underwent a fallout, Tim says was over “petty stuff.” The producer even revealed that he created an apology record titled “Sorry,” which has yet to be fully released.
"It was over petty stuff," Timbaland said during an interview with Revolt TV earlier this year. "It was more personal stuff, disagreements. It was not no industry-related. It was more personal and I was wrong. I was wrong. When I was working with Justin [Timberlake on his The 20/20 Experience album], he sent me a text. 'We need to talk. We need to hook back up.'"
A release date for Textbook Timbo has yet to be revealed.

P.O.S. "WDELH/MDS/RMX" Release Date, Cover Art, Tracklisting, Stream & Download

by Andres Tardio

UPDATE: P.O.S. and Rhymesayers release "WDELH/MDS/RMX," a Marijuana Deathsquad's remix version of the rapper's "We Don't Even Live Here" album.
P.O.S. and Rhymesayers Entertainment have announced the release date for WDELH/MDS/RMX, a Marijuana Deathsquad's remix version of the rapper's We Don't Even Live Here album.

The project is set to be available for free on October 22, one year to the day after We Don't Even Live Here's 2012 release date.
The album is set to include new verses from P.O.S. and guest spots from Lizzo, Greg Grease, SIMS and Mike Mictlan.

After the initial version of the album debuted in the Top 50 of Billboard's Top 200 Album Sales chart, P.O.S. was forced to postpone tour dates due to a kidney affliction. This is referenced on WDELH/MDS/RMX's cover art.
In 2012, P.O.S. spoke with HipHopDX about his lyrical content.
"I basically wanted content that was a little bit more deeper than just talking about what I'm wearing or what I think is cool," P.O.S. said. "I don't want to be one of those rappers who has a song that you listen to and it pretty much summarizes what every other song will be about or sound like. With my content, I try to cover a lot more ground. In doing so, a lot of people think I hate mainstream Rap because of that, but that's not true. I just want it to be better at all times."
A video for his new project's "Lockpicks, Knives, Bricks and Bats," which was created by Adam Dunn, can be viewed below, followed by the album's cover art and tracklisting.

Tracklisting
1. "Bumper"
2. "Fuck Your Stuff"
3. "How We Land" f. Justin Vernon
4. "Wanted/Wasted" f. Astronautalis
5. "They Can't Come" f. Sims, Lizzo, Cliff Rhymes, Chris Hooks, Jeremy Nutzman, & Greg Grease
6. "Lockpicks, Knives, Bricks and Bats"
7. "Fire In The Hole/Arrow To The Action"
8. "Get Down" ft. Mike Mictlan & Greg Grease
9. "All Of It"
10. "Weird Friends"
11. "Piano Hits" ft. Isaac Gale, Lizzo. & Sims

Action Bronson "Blue Chips 2" Release Date & Tracklisting

Action Bronson "Blue Chips 2" Release Date & Tracklisting
UPDATE #3: Action Bronson announces on Twitter an update regarding the "Blue Chips 2" release date.
Action Bronson said on Twitter today (October 1) that Blue Chips 2 will be released “The First Day it rains in NOVEMBER,” and that it will be a free release.
The project will be the second installment of the rapper's Blue Chips series with producer Party Supplies. Action Bronson and Party Supplies released Blue Chips in 2012.

“For the people who liked Blue Chips, [the sequel] is gonna be a similar vibe,” Party Supplies said during an interview with nahright.com. “We recorded it in the same spot in Williamsburg. We never stopped the same process. Nothing’s changed.
“I’ve just been recording endless amounts of material with him,” Party Supplies continued. “I can tell you, [what we’ve already recorded] is absolutely absurd. I think it’s crazy. We took it to another level. Blue Chips was sick, and Blue Chips 2is gonna be even better. He’s having even more fun on this one than the last one.”
Action Bronson's tweets from today regarding Blue Chips 2 are below.
Action Bronson and Party Supplies’ song “November Rain” was intended to be included on Blue Chips 2 and is representative of the feel of the rest of the project, but Party Supplies says in the nahright.com article he doesn’t know if it will be included on Blue Chips 2.

“We’ve been recording for a year and a half now, almost two years [for Blue Chips 2], which is crazy because he tweeted we were ten songs in last June, and we’ve kept working [since then],” Party Supplies says. “He’s been touring a lot, but the weeks that he’s been in New York, he’s been coming through, and we’ve just been putting the songs in a folder and [keeping] the ideas going.
“We have some joints,” Party Supplies continued. “Most with samples, but some without. If some of them end up on [his debut label] album, and others end up on Blue Chips 2, it’s his decision. But [I can say] the intro to Blue Chips 2 is really awesome. And a lot of the samples are things you wouldn’t expect people to be rhyming on, like crazy stuff we grew up on back in the day.”

(October 1)
UPDATE: Action Bronson released the tracklisting for Blue Chips 2 via Twitter today (October 10).
(October 10)
UPDATE #2: Action Bronson said on Twitter today (October 15) that Blue Chips 2 will be released in early November.

Jay Z, Eminem & Black Star Included On Green-Label's List Of "Top 10 Hip Hop Collaborations"

by DX Staff

Green-Label lists the best collaborations in Hip Hop history.
Green-Label.com released its list of “Top 10 Hip Hop Collaborations,” which features a list of classic combinations between Rap heavyweights from three different decades.
A track featured in the list was Jay Z and Eminem’s “Renegade.” “The only Rap feature on Jay Z’s 2001 album The Blueprint was the only other emcee in the world as big a star as Hov: Eminem,” reads the entry on Green-Label’s list. “A lyrics-loving fan’s dream, the track finds Jay and Em going back-and-forth for two verses apiece, waxing about the difficulties brought on by fame, media attention, and a host of other issues. Rarely performed live, the song had something of a revival on 2010’s The Home & Home Tour, which featured performances by Jay Z and Eminem’s respective hometowns of New York City and Detroit. Debates rage to this day about which artist had the superior verse over Em’s somber production, but there definitely is a consensus winner: the fans.”

Green-Label also listed Craig Mack, Busta Rhymes, LL Cool J, The Notorious B.I.G., and Rampage’s “Flava In Ya Ear Remix,” and Black Star’s and Common’s “Respiration,” among others.

Rap Battle Network Unhappy With YouTube's Paid Subscription Model

by Andres Tardio

Alchemy Networks CEO, Peter Griffith, says YouTube's paid subscription model is "a long way off" from being profitable.

Alchemy Networks CEO Peter Griffith says that YouTube's paid subscription model is not reaping the benefits he originally hoped for with Rap Battle Network, a paid subscription channel that focuses on Battle Rap.
“Most of us are not happy with the numbers we’ve seen,” Griffith said in an interview with thewrap.com.

One of the issues Griffith spoke about focuses on mobile phone use.
“70 percent of our audience is very active using YouTube on mobile phones,” Griffith said.
However, YouTube only allows users to subscribe from a computer.
“It’s a frustrating experience for the user,” Griffith said.
YouTube representatives responded to thewrap.com regarding this matter.
“We’re always looking for ways to meet our creators and viewers needs better, and we’re still in early days with paid channels,” the spokesperson said. “Just as the Partner Program empowered creators to build great channels over the last six years, we look forward to seeing how they use this additional way to build an audience on YouTube.”
Griffith reportedly remains "grateful" to YouTube, according to thewrap.com and has also focused on creating a television program while Alchemy continues producing web-based content.
Still, according to Griffith, YouTube's paid subscription model is “still a long way off from being a viable business model.”
In May, Griffith explained RBN's plans in a press release.
“Rap Battle Network will serve as a launch pad for the Rap battle community and the emerging rapper on a global scale," Griffith said. "The Rap battle fans have been paying in the range of $10.00 to $30.00 for one pay-per-view event, investing more than $150 to $200 per year in watching infrequent pay-per-view battles. We offer monthly battles, 4 major pay-per-view events, exclusive interviews, the Rap Ring Girls and more for $2.99 per month or $24.99 for the entire year.”

Rap Battle Network hosted "Bar Fest," a Battle Rap event in Playa Del Rey, California in June. The event ended with a confrontation between Daylyt and Math Hoffa. That battle can be viewed on the RBN YouTube channel, but users must pay to access the face-off.

Jon Connor Reportedly Signs To Aftermath

by Jay Balfour
John Connor reportedly announces his signing to the Aftermath label in his BET cypher.
As reported by HipHopDX yesterday (September 28), Flint, Michigan native emcee Jon Connor participated in BET’s annual Hip Hop Awards cypher alongside Wax, Rapsody, Emis Killa and Rittz at a taping that took place in Atlanta. Connor was grouped in the first of eight cyphers scheduled to air on BET on October 15 at 8 pm EST. Other cypher participants included Kendrick Lamar, A$AP Rocky, Action Bronson and Kevin Hart amongst others.
According to a Tweet and consequent report by Rap Radar, Connor announced his being signed to Aftermath by Dr. Dre during the filming of the segment as a part of his cypher verse. The news was also confirmed by blogger Karen Civil who was also in attendance.
The news comes just months after pictures and reports of Connor and Dr. Dre together in the studio. In an interview with MLive, Connor admitted the pride he felt in Dre’s approval. "He was excited about the respect he had for my artistry,” he said. “Dre is a very particular person. He knows what he wants to hear," Connor said. "...I made it through Dr. Dre's chopping block of potential. Just to know he sees something in me, or that he respects what I do, or has an appreciation for what I bring to hip-hop, is something I put on my mantle."
Connor’s meeting the West Coast legend was a product of a 2012 fall tour with Xzibit who eventually helped the two get in contact. Connor continued by describing the learning experience that has resulted out of working alongside the Beats headphone founder and CEO. “Any time I'm around him is constant growth for me,” he said. “He's an inspirational person, he truly is. Anything and everything out his mouth is something to learn from."
Connor has released a slew of mixtapes and music that included 2011’s Salvation and culminated in his retail debut this past July with Unconscious State. Unconscious State charted at number 35 on Billboard's Top 200 the second week after its release.
(September 29)

UPDATE #1: Connor's cypher alongside Wax, Rapsody, Emis Killa and Rittz can be found below.
"I cleared out all y'all that got in the way," Connor raps in the cypher. "And y'all knew that I was ill, but now my doctor is Dre."

N.W.A. And LL Cool J Up For 2014 Rock and Roll of Fame

by Houston Williams
LL Cool J
The announcements came yesterday (Oct. 16) and included other legends ilk Chic, Hall and Oats, Peter Gabriel, Nirvana, KISS, among others.
Both LL and N.W.A. were nominated and denied entry in the past.
Should they be accepted, they will join other Hip-Hop Rock Hall inductees Grand Master Flash and the Furious Five,Run-DMC, Beastie Boys and Public Enemy.

Loaded Lux Set To Finally Battle Hollow Da Don At UW Battle League

by Keith Nelson Jr
The epic battle that battle rap fans have been waiting for since SMACK/URL’s Summer Madness 2  has finally found a home. Hollow Da Don confirmed that he and Loaded Lux will square off on at UW Battle League’s event on February 1st.
After Loaded Lux announced his participation in the upcoming Battle League event, speculation grew that his opponent would Hollow after their previous attempt at battling on SMACK/URL’s Summer Madness 3 never came to fruition. On his personal Twitter account, Hollow Da Don  confirmed the upcoming battle:
The prior attempt at this battle for Summer Madness 3 was botched due to contractual disagreements on both artists’ part. Lux had a public dispute with Troy ‘SMACK’ Mitchell about wanting $50,000 to participate in the battle. In an interview with HipHopDX, Hollow shared Lux’s disapproval of the business behind Summer Madness 3 and even revealed additional monetary compensation for the artists that he proposed that was dismissed:
My management team came with a plan to reach that audience. We didn’t come Goodfellas style, ‘Fuck you pay me.’ We came to the table with two additional revenue streams that they were not considering. So we were essentially paying ourselves. Live stream pay per view. If one percent paid $20, that’s $600,000. With proper promotion, one percent was attainable, maybe even more. That’s what we were trying to negotiate. Then, [we suggested] pay-per-view on-demand for, say $2, after the battle. The income was there and we only wanted a 30% share. We were going to let them recoup 50% of my fee from the pay-per-view revenue. I think they were afraid to go get it.

Roosh Williams "Drobots: The Reboot" Cover Art, Tracklisting, Download & Stream

Roosh Williams' "Drobots: The Reboot" EP features production from Pac Div's Like and a guest appearance from Devin The Dude.
Houston, Texas emcee Roosh Williams released his latest project, Drobots: The Reboot, today (October 1). The five-track EP was produced by Like of Pac Div. Like is also a featured guest on the release, as is fellow Houston rapper Devin The Dude.
In August, Roosh Williams was selected by Simple Mobile to participate in the company’s Game Changer campaign. As part of the campaign, Roosh was featured in a webseries on the Houston Hip Hop scene and challenged to create an EP in one day.
“Getting the opportunity to work with Like was incredible,” Roosh said in an exclusive statement to HipHopDX. “He brought an entirely different vibe and sound than I'm used to, and I was able to feed off of it almost immediately.
“And as far as working with Devin The Dude,” he continued, “it's simply an honor. It's the kind of thing you work so hard for that when you're actually in the studio with Devin, it doesn't even seem real. There isn't time to stop and enjoy the moment, so you have to make sure you maintain focus and make something that can stand the test of time.”

Roosh also detailed the creation of one track from the project, “Water.”
“Personally, I think Bruce Lee is awesome,” Roosh said. “I find some of his interviews to be pretty amazing, so I wanted to incorporate that into the project. In the quote on ‘Water,’ he talks about how water is adaptable. It can flow smoothly, or it can be violent and crash down on you. He advises the listener to be ‘like water,’ and we decided to put this idea on wax.

“The first part of the song is where I'm flowing seamlessly through the beat,” he continues. “And then it switches and the production gets more hectic and sounds like controlled chaos.”

Drobots: The Reboot is available for download at audiomack.com.
The cover art, tracklisting and stream of Roosh Williams’ Drobots: The Reboot is as follows.

1. "Blunt With You" f. Like (Produced by Like)
2. "Anotha Sucka" f. Devin The Dude (Produced by Like)
3. "Got Me Fucked Up" (Produced by Like)
4. "Water" f. Like (Produced by Like)
5. "Rdouble Outro" (Produced by Like)

Action Bronson Announces "Blue Chips 2" Release Date

by Soren Baker

Action Bronson announces on Twitter the upcoming release of "Blue Chips 2."
