Cee Lo Green Says Goodie Mob's "Age Against The Machine" Will Appeal To Core And New Audiences

by Slava Kuperstein Cee Lo Green explains that the new Goodie Mob album is "somewhat of a testament to our elasticity." It's been nearly 13 years since the entirety of Goodie Mob, comprised of Cee Lo Green, Big Gipp, T-Mo, and Khujo, released an album. 1999's World Party was the last proper studio album from the original incarnation of the influential Atlanta Rap collective, until now. "The Goodie Mob, we definitely are reunited. And we've been working on that album really vigorously and it's coming out very well," confirmed Cee Lo Green in an interview with MTV News. "I think people are going to be very pleased. You know our core audience and also this new audience that we are aspiring to acquire," added Cee Lo, who is currently taping for a new TV Land sitcom titled "Soul Man." The album, titled Age Against the Machine, already has a single out, "Fight To Win." The Soul Machine explained that the reunion was inevitable. "Well, you know, it was just a matter of time, it's very faithful and we're a family," he said. "And you know we were never separate from each other completely. So our coming together after a 12-year hiatus is somewhat of a testament to our elasticity if you will. That's what I call it." Watch the interview below:

La Coka Nostra Returns With “Masters Of The Dark Arts”

by Roman Wolfe Rap collective La Coka Nostra has announced the release of a new album titled Masters of the Dark Arts. The album is the follow-up to the group’s 2009 debut release, A Brand You Can Trust and features original group members Slaine, Ill Bill, DJ Lethal and Danny Boy. Former group member is absent from the new album, something that pushed the group to work harder to produce Masters of the Dark Arts. “I think we approached Masters Of The Dark Arts with a chip on our shoulder and really took it back to our original mission of hardcore Hip-Hop amidst all the circus bullshit that is so prevalent in the current landscape of the genre,” group member Slaine told AllHipHop.com in a statement. “We are aware of the perception that somehow the group has suffered a loss we can’t recover from and in response we made an album that is the most conceptually focused and hardest hitting soundscape in the group’s history.” Masters of the Dark Arts features guest appearances from Sean Price, Thurston Howell, Sic Jacken, Vinny Paz, while production is handled by DJ Premier, Statik Selektah, DJ Lethah, Ill Will and others. Masters Of The Dark Arts in my opinion is the quintessential La Coka Nostra sound, It has both bark and bite like true hardcore Hip-Hop should!” says Danny Boy. “As conceptually and musically dark as this album appears to be, there’s also a flip side layer to it that you may not notice until you listen to it a few times,” Ill Bill added. “Masters Of The Dark Artsis a storm before the calm and a celebration of the good things in life that can only be achieved by walking directly into the heart of darkness and facing your inner demons head on.” Masters Of The Dark Arts is due in stores on July 31. Check out the track list below: 1.) “My Universe” f/ Vinnie Paz (produced by Statik Selektah) 2.) “Creed Of The Greedier” (produced by Sicknature) 3.) “המוסד” (produced by DJ Lethal & Scott Stallone) 4.) “Mind Your Business” (produced by DJ Premier) 5.) “Electronic Funeral” f/ Sean Price (produced by Beat Butcha) 6.) “The Story Goes On” (produced by DJ Lethal) 7.) “Letter To Ouisch” (produced by ILL BILL & DJ Lethal) 8.) “Snow Beach” f/ Thirstin Howl the 3rd (produced by Jack Of All Trades) 9.) “The Eyes Of Santa Muerte” ft/ Sick Jacken (produced by ILL BILL) 10.) “Murder World” (produced by C-Lance) 11.) “Coka Kings” f/ Vinnie Paz (produced by C-Lance) 12.) “.38 револьвер” f/ Big Left (produced by Sicknature) 13.) “Malverde Market” (produced by ILL BILL) 14.) “Masters Of The Dark Arts” (produced by DJ Lethal) 15.) “Everybody Down” f/ Jaysaun & Q-Unique (produced by C-Lance) ***iTunes Bonus Track 16.) “No Hay Tiempo Para Mañana” f/ Outerspace (produced by C-Lance) ***iTunes Bonus Track) allhiphop.com

Slaughterhouse Discusses International Grind, Hating The Music Game

by Houston Williams Slaughterhouse, the Shady Records lyrical quartet, have become international darlings through their years-long grind. In a recent cover story for The Source magazine, the group, which is comprised of Royce Da 5′ 9″, Crooked I, Joe Budden, and Joell Ortiz, talked about being accepted outside of the underground circuit. Said Crooked I, “I think Slaughterhouse fans across the globe, they have all that energy. They all have that love for real lyrics.” “They’re coming to see four of the illest MCs, and they haven’t fun with us,” agreed Joell Ortiz. “It’s a big ol’ party. I don’t feel like we’re the performers and they’re the audience. I just feel like we’re all partying together.” Crooked I also told The Source that he didn’t think the group would be possible, but they represent a change in Hip-Hop. “If you would have came to us all four individually, before [Joe Budden's 2008 album] Halfway House, and asked us to be a group, I don’t know if it would be a group today… To me, this is the first group ever to assemble four dudes from four different cities – covering the map is a symbol of unification.” But, that unification came from a lot of trials, Joe Budden said. “I almost despise a lot of aspects that come along with this industry. All the red tape. All the politics,” Budden said. “Everything that is in between me and my direct talent and the fans. The industry will jade you. The a**hole I am today is the man that y’all created.” Slaughterhouse covers the magazine, but there is also another cover that pays homage to the late Adam “MCA” Yauch and the Beastie Boys. allhiphop.com

Ice-T Says "Art Of Rap" Is Not An Attack On Pop Rap, Reveals Why No Younger Artists Are Featured

by Paul W Arnold Rugged rhymer Smoothe Da Hustler recently employed some “Broken Language” to pay homage to “109 MC’s” over a clever flip of Ice-T’s classic “Colors” track for the official music video promoting his S.M.G. partner-in-rhyme’s new documentary, Something From Nothing: The Art Of Rap. Astoundingly, Ice interviewed almost exactly half that number of emcees for the film. Notable names the likes of Dr. Dre, Eminem, Rakim, Kanye West, Snoop Dogg, Bun B, Nas, Ice Cube, Common, Q-Tip, Big Daddy Kane and Yasiin Bey (along with over three dozen more of their peers) appear alongside Ice as they discuss just what the craft of emceeing means to those that have dedicated their lives to the now nearly 40 year-old culture brought into the universe by some South Bronx kids with little more than two turntables and a microphone. Reviving the once in-demand industry of in-theater Hip Hop documentaries like The Show and Rhyme & Reason that brought millions of new eyes and ears to the culture in the 1990s, the legendary rapper/actor puts a unique new spin on the old format by utilizing his respected status as the godfather of Gangsta Rap and his personal relationships with his interview subjects to pull out revealing responses that the average journalist could not elicit – along with some impressive, ear-grabbing freestyles (like Lord Finesse’s punchline-packed verse and even some jaw-dropping bars from Ice himself). HipHopDX spoke to Ice late last Friday (May 8th) for a brief promotional Q&A about his film (in theatres today, May 15th), in which one-half of the hit reality show Ice Loves Coco explained why Hip Hop’s devolution into Pop served as the motivation for making his debut documentary but doesn’t serve as the film’s focus, as well as why Kendrick Lamar or any other contemporary spitters were not called in to give their thoughts on the art of rhyming. And after revealing his personal favorite freestyles and interviews in the film, Ice concludes his convo with DX by delivering a special message to all Hip Hop haters and Bill O’Reilly fans. read the rest at: http://www.hiphopdx.com/index/news/id.20103/title.ice-t-says-art-of-rap-is-not-an-attack-on-pop-rap-reveals-why-no-younger-artists-are-featured hiphopdx.com

by Morris Moore Rapper REKS and producer Numonics have teamed to create the new album Rebelutionary, which will be released this July. Rebelutionary follows REKS’ album Straight, No Chaser, with Statik Selektah. On Rebelutionary, REKS and Numonics enlist artists like Jon Conner, Krondon and Termanology. “Numonics is such a talent that I wasn’t concerned about following up Straight, No Chaser so quickly because the recording process was so smooth and I knew it was necessary now,” REKS said. “It was crazy that we could link up together on a project we both felt so passionate about; and one that is essential for today’s climate.” REKS has amassed an impressive resume since his debut album Along Came The Chosen was released in 2001. The rapper has worked with artists like DJ Premier, Large Professor, Sky Zoo, Pete Rock, Freeway, Styles P and numerous others. The latest release from REKS features the rapper commenting on current events and other politically based topics. “REKS and I made Rebelutionary to express the strong social and political views we both share. Inspired by great leaders like Fred Hampton and Malcolm X, the album sheds light on issues that need to be touched on at this time,” added Numonics. “Whether it’s institutionalized racism, or pointing out the hypocrisy of the establishment, REKS paints a vivid picture of the world we live in with this project. I feel blessed to have worked with such a strong and emerging voice in Hip-Hop and his immense talent shines throughout this project.” Rebelutionary is due in stores on July 24. Ice-T Discusses Pop Music's Negative Impact On Hip Hop

by Sean Ryon Ice-T explains how the mainstream music industry has hurt the power of Hip Hop. On June 15, Ice-T's Sundance Film Festival selected Something From Nothing: The Art of Rap will finally hit theaters across the country. Now, in a recent interview with Time, the gangsta rap legend speaks on his directorial debut. Ice explained that the film came out of a growing resentment towards modern Hip Hop and the lack of lyricism in the mainstream. He said that he simply wanted to sit down with his musical peers and delve into what rapping meant to them and Hip Hop culture outside of the industry's influence. "I wanted to start directing. I’ve been in film for a while and that’s something I want to do down the road, and I said, ‘Maybe this should be my first project,'" he said. "I was looking at the state of Hip Hop and I was like, ‘I don’t feel people respect it as much as they should.’ So I went out and called all my friends. I said, ‘I want to do interviews with you, but I’m going to talk to you about not the money, the cars, the jewelry, the beef. I want to talk about the craft.’ They were like, ‘Nobody ever asks us those questions.'" Ice-T continued on to discuss how he feels the pop music industry is hurting both the art and culture of Hip Hop. He explained that rap was a counter-cultural movement intended to give the disenfranchised a voice, but that music industry pressures are minimizing artists' ability to speak freely. However, he went on to say that true fans of rap will continue to seek out and support real Hip Hop despite this. "In the movie Mos Def quotes Q-Tip: ‘Rap is not pop. If you call it that, then stop.’ The true origin of rap is counter-culture. The true origin of rap is say something that they’re not saying on the radio," he explained. "When you kind of blend into what popular culture is doing, you’re losing the power of Hip Hop. We’ve got to keep rocking the boat. We’ve got unemployed people, we’ve got a black President, we’ve got election year, we’ve got Occupy Wall Street. If you’re just going to rap about ‘I got money and we balling,’ and all that, you’re not doing with it what it was meant to do. It’s meant to rock a party, but it was meant to change the world." He added, "I think that a rap aficionado, the hardcore rap fan, will always go away from pop, in the same way a hardcore jazz fan will never think Kenny G is really a jazz artist. You gotta kind of know there’s always going to be that purist who’s going to be like if it ain’t beats and rhymes, if there ain’t a DJ, then that ain’t Hip Hop." hipohpdx.com

The over decade long wait for the follow up to Dan The Automator and Del The Funky Homosapien’s highly praised Deltron 3030 album may soon be over according to the duo. And quite frankly this is the record we wanted to make. We had a couple of false starts and everything, but once we got it going it was exactly what we wanted to have. I think anyone who liked the last record will like this record. But I think this record has a lot of interesting things happening and I think people will enjoy it.” Deltron 3030 was released on May 23, 2000 and featured guest appearances from Prince Paul, Mr. Lif, Peanut Butter Wolf, and several other artists. hiphopdx.com

DJ Premier Addresses Copycat Producers, Updates On Full Album With Nas

by Nadine Graham DJ Premier acknowledges the criticism Statik Selektah and The Alchemist have received on sounding like him, says that he probably will not be on Nas' "Life Is Good," but the album is coming. DJ Premier is more than willing to offer encouragement to today’s up and comers taking the genre into new directions. The Hip Hop sonic pioneer is beyond chastising the younger crowd, which isn’t to say that he doesn’t love hearing his own influence every now and then. Every Rap fan seems to know the story of this Texas-born producer who gave the New York sound its signature grit in the early 1990s. The man often referred to as "Primo" is a legend of course, but he feels no need in stating the obvious to promote his already-unwavering position. Instead, he looks toward the future, remaining true to himself, his craft and his love for the culture. HipHopDX recently had the chance to sit with the Gang Starr legend before the Red Bull EmSee National Finals in Atlanta. He spoke about “Premier-isms,” his Sirius situation, and a possible name for the collaborative album with Nas. HipHopDX: Your style has been immortalized in the culture as "The Primo Sound." Was there ever any added pressure from yourself to remain affixed to the sound you started with? DJ Premier: Yeah well, I’ve always just felt like: make what you like to hear or what you like to buy and that’s really what it is. I like buying the type of music that I make, which is not to say that I’m riding my own dick or nothing like that but it’s just the sound that I make reminds me of what I used to buy prior to having a record deal. Stetsosonic, MC Shan, [Big Daddy] Kane, Kool G Rap, Eric B. & Rakim, Run-DMC, Public Enemy… Even underground people like U.T.F.O., Full Force, The Real Roxanne, really every Roxanne, all 100 of the Roxannes... [Laughs] I wanted a record that sounded like “the city,” like if you looked at them and at the album cover, and you heard the music and closed your eyes, it sounded like New York. It’s not like that now, but I don’t wanna see that part go away, because that’s what paid me and got me a house and got me cars and got me to help people that need to borrow $8,000 and I just said, "Oh yeah, I got it. Here." That allowed me to do it, so the last thing I’ma do is stray away from that. The younger generation, I have no problem with what they’re doing because they have a style that they’re into, let them have that. But our lane shouldn’t go unrecognized because our lane opened doors for them to do what they do. DX: There are a lot of producers who’ve clearly been inspired by you. Some people do pretty well at recreating that Primo vibe, but not quite… [laughs] DJ Premier: There’s a lot of triers, yeah [Laughs]. DX: So you agree. DJ Premier: Oh, yeah. Yeah. There’s a few. There’s a few. DX: Can you name some? DJ Premier: A lot of people reference Statik Selektah who’s a good friend of mine, mainly on the scratching side, not on the beat side, he definitely has paved his own lane on production style. Even in the earlier Alchemist days when he was sort of veering away from the Soul Assassins style, of how [DJ] Muggs and all of them put their thing together, I could hear Premier-isms in that but again he’s another friend of mine that I hang out with and we go listen to each other’s beats over at the house and be like, "Oh, that’s dope," and not like, "Oh man, that sounds like me." It’s all healthy competition and at the end of the day we’re all in it to stay on top of our craft and it’s also flattering. I don’t look at it as biting or stealing. You just hear little things and go, "Ahhh… That reminds me of my little snare or my drumroll." It’s not taken in any other way but flattery and on top of that, they keep me on my toes. I was over at Alchemist’s house the day he played“We Gon’ Make It” beat [that was eventually used by Ras Kass and later Jadakiss]. He made it for Nas and I was like, "Yo, Nas gonna kill that." Nas didn’t like the track. I was like, "Damn!" Then he said like, “I’ma give it to Jadakiss.” I was like, ‘I hope [The L.O.X.] kill it." Jadakiss and Styles [P]… Whew… And that’s one of their biggest records, to this day, when it comes on. So you know, it was like, if Nas doesn’t kill it, it’s gotta be somebody else that handles it on that level and that’s a record that comes on to this day and everybody’s like, “That’s my jam.” But we all borrow from each other. Me, 9th Wonder, all of us, we all borrow from each other and we all get on the phone or text each other like, "Yo. You heard that new joint? Oh my God." Or I’ll hit ‘em like, "I hate you, 9th." Or I’ll call DJ Scratch like, "Oh, I hate you." And they know I hate you means I love the shit out of you because you’re so dope you know. for the rest of the interview go to: http://www.hiphopdx.com/index/news/id.20022/title.dj-premier-addresses-copycat-producers-updates-on-full-album-with-nas hiphopdx.com

On July 24, Get On Down Records will collaborate with Wu-Tang Clan's GZA and Geffen Records to release a deluxe 2CD box set of the emcee's sophomore album, Liquid Swords. The November, 1995 album's re-issue will include a bonus disc of the album's instrumentals, almost entirely produced by RZA. La Coka Nostra "Masters Of The Dark Arts" Cover Art, Tracklist

by Sean Ryon La Coka Nostra's "Masters Of The Dark Arts" is now releasing July 31 for a mid-summer's heat. Late last year, news broke that La Coka Nostra was preparing their sophomore release Masters of Dark Arts for a 2012 release. Now, the super-group has announced an official date for their project's release. According to a recent press release, Masters of Dark Arts will drop on June 26 via Fat Beats with Ill Bill and DJ Lethal handling production. Ill Bill spoke on the new album's sound and how it differs from their 2009 debut A Brand You Can Trust. "The new album is a little different from A Brand You Can Trust. I think the production is less polished this time, more raw," he explained. "It has an unfriendly vibe to it. We went with darker, grimier beats on this one and that influenced the direction of the lyrics and songs overall." The album's release also comes with the unfortunate news that member Everlast has departed from the group. In a statement, Everlast explained that he unable to fully commit his time to La Coka Nostra because his daughter's struggle with Cystic Fibrosis. "Due to my commitments with my own label and record and the fact that my daughter has been diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis it has become very difficult to be involved in any other projects," he explained. "Therefore it is my conclusion after long deliberation and discussion with the guys in the group that waiting until I personally am ready and able to fully dedicate myself to the group isn't fair to the group so I unfortunately will not be involved in LCN until a time when I can dedicate myself properly to it." DX will keep you updated as more information on the project comes to light. (March 2) UPDATE: Now releasing on July 10, La Coka Nostra's Masters Of The Dark Arts has the following tracklist: 01. My Universe f. Vinnie Paz 02. Creed Of The Greedier 03. Mossad 04. Mind Your Business 05. Electronic Funeral f. Sean Price 06. The Story Goes On 07. Letter To Ouisch 08. Snow Beach f. Thirstin Howl the III 09. The Eyes Of Santa Muerte f. Sick Jacken 10. Murder World 11. Coka Kings f. Vinnie Paz 12. .38 Revolver f. Big Left 13. Malverde Market 14. Masters Of The Dark Arts (May 4) UPDATE #2: La Coka Nostra affiliate DJ Eclipse notified HipHopDX that Masters Of The Dark Arts is now releasing on July 31. hiphopdx.com

Evidence Talks New Dilated Peoples Album And Status Of “Step Brothers” With Alchemist; Announces European Tour Dates

by JP DelaCuesta Evidence, one third of the celebrated Hip-Hop group Dilated Peoples, had a lot to talk about during last weekend’s Soundset Festival in Minneapolis. The rapper and producer who released his third solo studio album, Cats & Dogs, last September is gearing up to get back in the lab with D.P. members DJ Babu and Rakaa Iriscience to put the finishing touches on their upcoming fifth album, Directors of Photography, which is slated for release at the end of the year. “Directors of Photography is the next Dilated Peoples album and I’m excited about it, nervous about it, everything in between. We never broke up or anything like that, we’ve been supporting each other on our solo missions,” Evidence told AllHipHop.com. “Most people who know the details about Dilated know that we’re solo artists who came together to make something bigger and this is just a return to genesis so to speak.” Evidence then spoke on the group dynamic between himself and his Dilated brethren, saying, “Sometimes we’ve got to be conscious of each other when we’re in a group because not all of our views reflect each others visions all the time. So it’s been fun to just do what we wanted to do in these off years, solo, expressing ourselves. I think our next Dilated record could really be a great sound because of this freedom we’ve had. I’m looking forward to it.” On his last solo album, Cats & Dogs, Evidence was able to secure some production from someone that he describes as “is in the upper echelon of what a producer and his beats should sound like.” He’s referring to DJ Premier, who backed the MC during his well-received set at Rhymesayers Entertainment’s Soundset Festival. “Throughout history, his catalogue, everything is just amazing. To work with him is one thing. It’s the sh*t and a highlight. To kick it with him and chill with him or talk on the phone is another notch up. To get in front of a crowd and have DJ Premier literally scratching for me and on the mic hyping me up; I was smiling so much I almost missed words. It was like that genuine, young youth excitement. Not from weed, not from alcohol, just like that first time getting p*ssy feeling.” He mentioned that he’s keeping his fingers crossed about getting Premier to contribute to Dilated’s Directors of Photography. For Evidence, looking into the future is something he says he does constantly, and that’s why he had no problem talking to AllHipHop.com about his long in-the-works collaborative album with Alchemist titled Step Brothers. “That’s a project that we’ve been talking about for a long time, so that’s almost done but after Cats & Dogs I don’t want to promise dates anymore ‘cause it puts you in a weird predicament as an artist.” “Step Brothers might even happen before Dilated, because it’s not one of those “stop the world” type of albums,” he told AllHipHop.com. “I don’t want to say it’s a novelty record or side project, because it has the potential to be much more but it’s something that can live amongst the other campaigns. Evidence has also released a new visual for “Liner Notes” featuring Aloe Blacc from Cats & Dogs, as well as announced dates for his upcoming European tour. Prodigy Reveals Tracklisting For “H.N.I.C. 3″; Readies Second Book Focusing On Prison Stint

by JP DelaCuesta Mobb Deep member Prodigy is gearing up for the July 3 release of his new album, H.N.I.C. 3, for which the rapper revealed the cover art and tracklisting of earlier today H.N.I.C. 3, which is the MC’s third solo studio album, will feature appearances from Willie Taylor of Day 26, Wiz Khalifa, Havoc, Young L, T.I., and more. Production on the album comes from the likes of Alchemist, Beat Butcha, The Columbians, S.C., and Sid Roams. Prodigy’s new album is the follow-up to H.N.I.C. 2, his critically-acclaimed 2008 solo release, almost entirely produced by Alchemist and Sid Roams. The album sold over 100,000 units independently. In addition, following the success of his first book, My Infamous Life, Prodigy has announced that he is working on a second project that will focus entirely on his time spent behind bars. The rapper told XXL last month, “This one is strictly and entirely about my experience in jail. I left that out of the first book on purpose, so I could put this out. It’s basically my experience—day by day—like a diary joint, type of thing,” he continued. “You know, what was going on in there, what I experienced in there, and what I took out of it. Just the whole story. Only a few people will know what that’s like, the people I met and how the COs (correction officers) were, just different things like that.” Check out a full tracklisting for H.N.I.C. 3 below: 1. Without Rhyme or Reason 2. Slept On 3. Pretty Thug 4. My Angel feat. Willie Taylor of Day 26 5. Co-Pilot feat. Wiz Khalifa 6. Live 7. Make It Hot feat. Young L 8. Get Money feat. Boogz & Young L 9. Boldy James [BGA] Signs Decon Deal For Alchemist Produced Album

by Jake Crates Detroit born and raised rapper Boldy James, cousin of Cool Kids producer/rapper Chuck Inglish, has struck a deal with Decon Records for one album exclusively produced by the Alchemist. The two developed a chemistry while working on the Alchemist’s recent project Russian Roulette, when the duo got to work in Alchemist’s Los Angeles studio several months ago. “It was supposed to be a mixtape, and it turned into an album, and we got a deal for the album,” Boldy James told AllHipHop.com in an exclusive interview. “Al is one of the most easiest going producers, one of the dopest producers to work with so far besides, of course, my cuzzo, Chuck Inglish.” Boldy James was tight lipped about the actual title of the project after he and Jadakiss used the same title, Consignment, for their recent projects. So, Boldy believes there’s good reason to hold back the title until it actually releases. “I been noticing, at the moment its not nobody like me, so I’m just trying to preserve the style,” Boldy James told AllHipHop.com. Boldy James, who was also featured on the Cool Kids project, When Fish Ride Bicycles, has developed quite a buzz online, cumulatively generating well over one million views on his official videos. While the project is in the final stages of recording, Boldy confirmed that the untitled project will feature Action Bronson, Chip tha Ripper, Twin Gambino from the Infamous Mobb, and a few special guest surprises. “I only got like two more songs to do and it’s done. As me and Al vibed out, I was gonna crank out as many joints as possible. At first, I was just gonna give y’all 10, but Alc said maybe I should give y’all 12,” Boldy James explained. “It might actually be done, I don’t know how Al is feeling, but it might be done.” Boldy James performs in the basement of the historic St. Andrews venue called The Shelter with Stretch Money and Ro Spit, starting at 9 p.m. on June 9. Tickets are $15 at the door. allhiphop.com

Rock The Bells Adds DMX, Eve And Jadakiss To 2012 Lineup; “Wu-Block” Album To Be Performed For First Time

by JP DelaCuesta With last week’s festival announcement including names like Nas, Slick Rick, Immortal Technique, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, and a heap of others, Guerrilla Union and Rock the Bells have loaded this year’s roster by adding DMX, Eve, Jadakiss, Future, and Pusha T to the 2012 lineup. According to a press release, “Four-time Platinum selling artist DMX will play a headlining role at Rock the Bells this summer, performing songs from his six Billboard chart-topping albums. Joining him will be label-mates Eve and Jadakiss, slated to perform their own sets.” In addition to the festival’s just-added performers, Rock the Bells has rounded up Ghostface Killah, Raekwon, Sheek Louch, Styles P., and Jadakiss as mentioned before, to perform their brand new collaborative album, Wu-Block, for the first time in it’s entirety.” Following performances at yesterday’s Hot 97 Summer Jam concert event in New Jersey, Guerrilla Union as also announced the inclusion of both Future and Pusha T to this year’s lineup, both of which will be making their first appearance at the festival as solo artists. In other Rock the Bells news, J. Cole and 2 Chainz will join the lineup for the New Jersey festival stop while Common will be at the San Bernardino stop. Guerrilla Union founder Chang Weisberg said, “I am thrilled to announced all the great artist additions to Rock the Bells. The Variety of talent makes this lineup the most dynamic yet. There’s a nice combination of legendary and up-and-coming acts, and a majority of them are releasing new material as well. Plus, believe it or not, there is still more to be announced.” In other Rock the Bells news, Beastie Boys’ DJ Mix Master Mike will be releasing the official Rock the Bells mixtape later this summer.
