One of Hip Hop’s original advocates for all things green is gearing up for a studio return. Cypress Hill is putting the finishing touches on their first studio album in five years.
The untitled album will be released this fall on Suburban Noize Records, according to group front man B-Real.
"We're mixing right now," B-Real tells Billboard.
While the group worked with Everlast, Alchemist, and Evidence, don’t look for an all star cast of collaborations with today’s biggest commercial names. "We don't really do a lot of collaborations in Cypress,” B-Real adds. “We keep it in house."
Since splitting from Columbia Records, the group members have been working on outside projects. In the last year, Sen Dog and DJ Muggs have both worked on solo albums. For B-Real, who just released Smoke N Mirrors , he describes the process of working on his own as different, but welcome challenge.
"We're used to working with each other (in Cypress Hill), bouncing ideas off each other. This one I had to carry on my back, on my own. But I like challenges, so it wasn't that bad at all. I don't really get periods where I can't come up with an idea that I want to use. What needs to click will click."
