9th Wonder Links W/ Red Bull For Nat'l Producer Competition

written by Anthony Roberts

Aspiring beat makers will have the opportunity to show their skills in front of industry figures through a Red Bull-sponsored beat battle that will kick off this month.

The contest, which will feature 12 up and coming producers competing in eight cities across the country is set to kick off in Philadelphia on Thursday, May 22.

Established producers like 9th Wonder, Vitamin D and Jake One will participate in a music discussion forum before the show with students from Arts in Motion, Youth Empowerment Services, Junior Music Academy of Philadelphia and other city based, youth music programs.

Proceeds from Red Bull Big Tune in Philadelphia ticket sales will be designated to the after school music programs of Arts in Motion; a non-profit organization dedicated to the evolution of music for inner city youth.

The beat battle will continue to make stops in Oakland, Houston, Detroit, Chicago, Seattle, Washington, DC and Long Beach. The top two producers from each regional qualifying battle will go head to head in December in New York City.

The winner of the finals will receive custom studio equipment and an opportunity to collaborate with a recording artist at the Red Bull Studios in Santa Monica. Last year's winner worked with Young Buck.
