Twenty-four year-old Inland Empire rapper Westside Bugg spoke about his recently released The Best of The West compilation to HipHopDX early Tuesday morning. Having previously appeared on albums from Layzie Bone and Suga Free, the Jake Records artist spoke about his album's significance in saying, "The Best Of The West album was put together to highlight what the west coast is all about right now. With a new year, and a lot of activity and hype coming around about [Dr. Dre's] Detox, Eminem, a new Snoop [Dogg] joint and more, I thought I could show off what the whole coast is working on."
The album features numerous voices of old and new from the coast including Numbskull, Saafir, Bishop Lamont [click to read], Jayo Felony and Kurupt [click to read]. Texas veteran Lil Flip also makes an appearance. In the heavy presence of guests, Bugg told DX, "This album was really meant to be a west coast showpiece, not so much about just me and my circle of homies. So the Jake Records team and I reached out to a lot of people to show the listener the bigger picture. Don't worry though... my new album is coming soon too, and it'll be all Bugg all day!"
The compilation was released December 23. Previously, Bugg released The Roach Motel.
