BET has tapped multi-platinum producer Swizz Beats to provide the sounds for the 2008 BET Hip-Hop Awards, set to air tonight (October 23) at 8 pm.
Swizz has created a soundtrack for the two hour broadcast, bolstering the performances and award presentations with some of the hottest music out.
"When BET asked me to score the show I was honored because the Hip Hop Awards this year was the best ever so I jumped to the opportunity", Swizz Beatz told AllHipHop.com. “ "I wanted to be sure that the music I added would make people react and vibe with the show. Shout out to Snaggs and The Individuals.”."
The show, which was taped in Atlanta on October 18, features appearances by bevy of celebrities such as 50 Cent, actress Kerry Washington, singer Keri Hilson, Jim Jones, actor Derek Luke, Lil Cease, Big Boi, Keyshia Cole, Ciara, actor Jamal Woolard and Wu-Tang Clan members GZA, Raekwon, Masta Killa, U-God, Inspectah Deck and RZA.
Performers included T.I., Nas, Ludacris, Nelly, Common, Young Jeezy, N.E.R.D., Ice Cube, Musiq Soulchild, Rick Ross, Soulja Boy, Bow Wow, Plies, Ne-Yo, Swizz Beatz, Avery Storm, and the Queens of Hip Hop - MC Lyte, Yo-Yo, The Lady of Rage, Salt-n-Pepa, as well as Lil' Wayne, who walked away as the evenings top winner.
Jadakiss and DJ Drama lent their services as celebrity announcer and DJ, respectively, joining surprise host T-Pain.
