Eric B. & Rakim To Be Inducted Into Long Island Music Hall of Fame

Two Hip Hop icons are recognized by their hometown, after previous awards have gone to Run-DMC, LL Cool J and Public Enemy.

Legendary 1980s and early 1990s duo Eric B. & Rakim will be the latest Hip Hop act inducted into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame. The ceremony will take place on November 16 at the Oheka Castle in Huntington, New York.

Past inductees include Public Enemy, Run-DMC and LL Cool J. In related news, LL Cool J is nominated for Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction.

While Rakim was from Long Island's Wyandanch, Eric B. originally hailed from Queens. Together, the duo was among the acts leading the charge in Long Island's Hip Hop representation, with four albums released between 1987 and 1992, prompting hits such as "Paid In Full," "Eric B Is President" and "Microphone Fiend." In the early '90s, the two would split over creative and financial differences, both going on to record solo albums.

To date, Eric B. & Rakim have not reunited in the last 17 years. However, both are said to be attending the induction.
