While the death of Hip Hop veteran Guru has left fans in mourning, the string of controversies surrounding the rapper's death continues to grow by the day. Guru's producer Solar told MTV's Sway last week that he and Guru founded the Each One Counts charity organization together, however, certain aspects of the foundation do not add up.
In a final letter, Guru states, "I have a non-profit organization called Each One Counts dedicated to carrying on my charitable work on behalf of abused and disadvantaged children from around the world and also to educate and research a cure for this terrible disease that took my life."
Since the letter was released, blogs, media outlets, and fans alike have questioned the authenticity of the address, suggesting that perhaps the letter was written by Solar. According to an investigation conducted by BirthplaceMag.com, who looked at Each One Counts' tax records, the foundation is listed under a Denise Sandoval, or as revealed today, Solar's wife.
Last week, the website spoke to a friend of Solar and Guru, who stated, "The foundation is something Solar started. Guru was aware of the foundation, but nothing was ever done with it. It was something Solar always wanted to get going but never did." It was also revealed that the non-profit earned less than $25,000 a year, yet never filed the proper tax documents.
More on this story as it develops.
