(AllHipHop News) Popular Los Angeles personality DJ Skee has been named as the Hip-Hop Ambassador to Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s charity, After-School All-Stars, Los Angeles (ASAS-LA).
The non-profit features a number of after school activities aimed at improving the health, fitness and nutritional habits of students, in addition to fostering youth leadership and community service.
ASAS-LA also uses cutting edge programs to reduce drug use, crime and violence among middle and high school students.
"Being involved with the kids in the After-School All-Stars, Los Angeles programs brings things full circle," DJ Skee told AllHipHop.com in a statement today (March 25). "Hip-hop originates from the communities that these students come from. Hip-hop is a big part of their culture…and to teach them the positive aspects of the industry; that actual careers exist within the industry; that lead industry figures are devoted to giving back to the community…it gives them the type of exposure needed to take the hip-hop culture on a positive path. These kids are the future of hip-hop."
ASAS-LA serves over 10,000 children throughout the Los Angeles area. DJ Skee will work in tandem with Kobe Bryant, the organization’s national spokesman.
The non-profit also houses All-Star Records, a free music program that teaches the fundamentals of Hip-Hop, aimed at 10-18 year-olds, to ultimately provide a safer learning environment.
DJ Skee is an internationally known DJ with a show on Los Angeles’ KIIS-FM, the most listen to station radio station in the country.
He is also syndicated on Sirius/XM Satellite Radio through Europe, Asia and Australia and runs SkeeTv.com. (AllHipHop News) Popular Los Angeles personality DJ Skee has been named as the Hip-Hop Ambassador to Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s charity, After-School All-Stars, Los Angeles (ASAS-LA).
