Through a few unreleased verses in the last couple of years, along with “Life Changes” off 8 Diagrams [click to read] dedicated to him, Ol’ Dirty Bastard has been given a decent amount of respective exposure since his untimely death in late 2004. With that said, O.D.B.’s cousin Raison Allah is hoping his futures contributions will imprint "Dirt McGirt’s" musical legacy.
Currently working on a tribute album called All In Together Now Raw: A Tribute to Ol' Dirty Bastard, as well as a documentary entitled Dirty: One Word Can Change the World, Allah stated he made a vow to O.D.B. that he would carry on his name. While his work initially began on just the documentary of Dirty’s life through his company Zu Films, Allah soon found that interviews and a historical past couldn’t fully tell the story of Russell Jones.
“With all the footage and interviews I still felt like something was missing; Dirty was all about the music. When word got out that we were working on a documentary, Wu fam started sending me so many tracks. We had so many dope tracks that we didn’t want to wait until the soundtrack until the DVD to put them out,” Allah said in a recent press release.
A Tribute to Ol’ Dirty Bastard is expected to feature verses from fellow clansmen RZA [click to read] and Masta Killa, as well as affiliates Killarmy and 4th Disciple. While they have no set release dates, Allah also plans to put out a few more musical projects, as he explained, “Each tribute disc will include a short trailer to promote the upcoming DVD documentary.”
All In Together Now Raw: A Tribute to Ol' Dirty Bastard is expected to drop next month, and the documentary Dirty: One Word Can Change The World is scheduled for release in November.
