HipHopDX is reporting that the god Rakim has finally signed a new deal and will release his long rumored project: The Seventh Seal on ::drumroll:: SMC Recordings. Yes, the label that is currently home to Killer Mike, Mistah F.a.b., & Pastor Troy will now bear responsibility to deliver a classic from one of the greatest MCs to ever grace the microphone. Will they deliver? Who knows - but they seem pretty excited about it according to the press release: “SMC Recordings signs the largest act in the history of the company”.
The Seventh Seal is now on tap to drop Spring of 2009 - almost TEN YEARS after the release of Rakim's last album - The Master. No further details of the album have been leaked at this time - but we will of course deliver the info as we learn about it.
